Collins Aerospace in Santa Isabel, PR is seeking an SMT Engineering Technician to support surface mount technology manufacturing. You will install and optimize equipment, create Pick & Place programs, and collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient SMT operations.

The role emphasizes developing process parameters, troubleshooting defects, and maintaining compliance with ESD and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent with 4+ years relevant experience.
• English communication skills (verbal and written) required.
• U.S. citizenship is required for program access.

Responsibilities

• Support SMT line start-up, daily operation, and new equipment install.
• Create and maintain Pick & Place programs and libraries.
• Configure and optimize AOI/SPI systems and solder paste printing.
• Develop and adjust reflow profiles and SMT process parameters.
• Perform test runs, first-article inspections, NPIs, and troubleshoot issues.
• Analyze defects, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain documentation, train operators, and ensure ESD, safety and quality standards.

As a SMT Engineering Technician, you will responsible for providing technical support to surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing processes. This role includes implementing, installing, programming, commissioning, and optimizing equipment used for electronic PCB assembly. The technician collaborates closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient, and stable SMT operations, while supporting new product introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will Do

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/ technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer

• Technical degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Electromechanics, Automation, or a related field
• Experience in electronic component manufacturing or PCB assembly
• Hands‑on experience with SMT processes
