Job summary

Bitdeer Technologies Group in Sparks, NV is seeking a Process Engineer (SMT) to develop, optimize, and maintain surface mount production processes across the assembly line. You will drive line efficiency and champion SPC and CPk studies while collaborating with R&D, Maintenance and QA to ensure high quality products.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Manufacturing/Materials and 3–5+ years of hands-on SMT experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline (Electrical/Manufacturing/Materials) is required.
• 3–5+ years hands-on SMT process engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of core SMT processes: solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, and AOI/AXI inspection.
• Proven ability to analyze data and apply structured problem solving to drive improvements.
• Experience with DFM/ DFA principles and lean Six Sigma methodologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain SMT production processes to meet design specs and quality requirements.
• Continuously analyze and improve SMT processes to maximize yield and minimize waste.
• Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Conduct CPk and SPC studies to ensure process capability across assembly operations.
• Collaborate with R&D, Equipment Maintenance, and QA to support NPI and process stability.
• Create and maintain comprehensive process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Provide training and day-to-day technical support to operators and technicians.

About the Role

The Process Engineer (SMT) is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production processes. In this role, you will focus on solving process-related challenges, driving line efficiency, and ensuring high product quality across the SMT assembly line.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Development: Formulate and implement new SMT production processes to satisfy product design specifications and quality requirements.
• Continuous Improvement: Continuously analyze and optimize existing SMT processes to maximize efficiency, reduce line waste, and enhance yield.
• Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues encountered during SMT production, identifying root causes and executing corrective/preventive actions.
• Process Control: Conduct process capability studies ($C_{pk}) and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques across assembly operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, Equipment Maintenance, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure smooth New Product Introduction (NPI) and overall process stability.
• Documentation & Standards: Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and best practices.
• Training & Support: Provide technical training, guidance, and day-to-day support to SMT production operators and technicians.
• Industry Insights: Stay current with industry best practices, emerging SMT technologies, and equipment advancements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Process Engineer in an active SMT manufacturing environment.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of core SMT processes, including solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, and automated inspection (AOI/AXI).
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skill set with a structured, data‑driven approach.
• Design Standards: Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Methodologies: Experience with process optimization methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) is highly desirable.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
