Job summary

Toptal seeks a Smartsheet expert to build end-to-end program planning solutions for a regional utility integration project. You will deliver program-level views, cross-sheet dependencies, and a robust RAID log that stays dynamic as the rollout progresses.

You will also coach stakeholders, create reusable formulas and connectors, and develop training materials so the client can maintain these solutions after handoff.

Job description

A regional utility is integrating a newly acquired service territory and asset base, and the program office needs its planning infrastructure to keep pace. We're looking for a Smartsheet Expert to build the solutions that give this integration real visibility — program-level views, dependency mapping, and a RAID log that actually does work instead of sitting static in a tab.

This is a dual-capacity role. You'll be hands-on in the build, and you'll also be teaching. The client wants to walk away from this engagement able to create and maintain these solutions themselves, which means your formulas, your connectors, and your training materials all need to hold up after you've moved on.

If you're the person people come to when a Smartsheet build has outgrown what the UI will do for you, and you can explain how you got there, this is a strong fit.

What You’ll Do

• Build Smartsheet solutions supporting integrated project planning across the utility integration program
• Design program-level views, cross-sheet dependencies, and a more robust RAID log
• Develop the formulas and connectors that make sheet functionality work end to end
• Perform complex data entry and structuring within Smartsheet as the build requires
• Coach client stakeholders on creating comparable sheets, views, and formulas themselves
• Produce training materials the client team can use for onboarding and ongoing reference

What You Bring

• Proven, demonstrable expertise in Smartsheet — not adjacent PM tooling
• Experience building complex sheets, program views, and dependency structures
• Fluency with Smartsheet formulas and connectors
• Ability to support project planning workflows and the documentation that surrounds them
• Track record coaching stakeholders on Smartsheet usage and best practices
• Strong written communication for producing training material that stands on its own
• US-based (hard requirement for this engagement)

Nice to Have

• Prior work in utilities, energy, or another regulated infrastructure environment
• Experience supporting M&A, territory, or asset integration programs
• Smartsheet Certified Product Consultant or equivalent certification
• Background in PMO enablement or project planning operating model design
• Experience building training curricula or enablement programs for non-technical users
