TRUMPF Inc. in the Chicago area seeks a Smart Factory Automation Project Manager to lead installation projects of large automation systems, from pre-install site visits through system acceptance.

The role requires strong project management, problem solving, and excellent communication within a multi-functional team. Up to 75% travel is expected, including overnight stays, with collaboration across Engineering, Service, and Production.

Qualifications

• Excellent problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Three to five years' experience with project management in related fields.
• Experience as a TRUMPF Service Engineer, Development Engineer, Applications Engineer, or related technical role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor installation projects of large automation systems.
• Guide customers through the installation process from pre-install site visit to system acceptance.
• Create a detailed project timeline defining activities, responsibilities, milestones and due dates.
• Coordinate staffing of required resources across departments.
• Travel to pre-installation sites to ensure readiness and compliance for delivery and installation.
• Support system installation on-site as liaison between customer and TRUMPF.
• Facilitate customer change requests and communicate impacts on scope and schedule.
• Coordinate travel and submit travel expenses reports.
• Provide regular feedback to Engineering and Production.
• Identify improvement opportunities during execution and report them.
• Travel up to 75%, including overnight travel.
