Job description

Overview

The Small Uncrewed Engines (SUE) Development Engineering Systems Team seeks an experienced Airframe Integrator Lead to provide technical leadership for weapon system integration across a portfolio of advanced propulsion systems. The role owns all functional and physical interface requirements between small uncrewed propulsion systems and weapon system airframes, including expendable platforms, reusable uncrewed systems, and Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) applications. The incumbent serves as the primary technical interface with weapon system integrators, airframe manufacturers, and Department of War customers, ensuring seamless integration across multiple programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead weapon system integration strategies for multiple propulsion systems across expendable, reusable, and CCA platforms; act as technical authority for all propulsion‑to‑airframe interfaces.
  • Own and maintain Airframe Interface Control Models (AICMs) in CAMEO as the authoritative source for all interface definitions (mechanical, electrical, fluid, thermal, data, functional), generating ICDs, specifications, and drawings directly from the models.
  • Manage interface requirements and ICDs across multiple platforms, translating system‑level requirements into propulsion interface requirements with full traceability and verification strategies.
  • Lead multi‑platform integration planning, maximizing commonality while accommodating platform‑specific requirements and supporting business development activities.
  • Champion FLIGHT DECK principles, lean engineering practices, and digital engineering initiatives to advance Model‑Based Systems Engineering and improve integration efficiency.
  • Travel approximately once every 4‑5 weeks (2‑3 days) to customer and partner sites.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in systems integration, weapon system integration, or aerospace systems engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex interfaces between propulsion systems and airframes across multiple platforms.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, fluid, thermal, and control interfaces for propulsion system integration.
  • Proficiency with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, specifically CAMEO Systems Modeler or equivalent SysML‑based tools.
  • Experience developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams, customers, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex organizational interfaces and drive consensus across stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with geographically distributed teams.
  • Must obtain and maintain U.S. Government Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in small uncrewed engines, expendable propulsion systems, CCA applications, cruise missiles, or multi‑platform propulsion integration.
  • Department of War weapon system development experience across multiple programs.
  • Advanced CAMEO Systems Modeler proficiency, including interface modeling, parametric modeling, and model‑based documentation generation.
  • Experience with digital engineering, digital thread, and model‑based enterprise initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Joint Teaming Agreements, Joint Development Agreements, or collaborative program structures.
  • Familiarity with weapon system control architectures and military standards (MIL‑STD‑1553, MIL‑STD‑461).
  • Active DoD security clearance.
  • INCOSE CSEP certification or Lean Six Sigma training.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill) and integration with MBSE tools.
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model.
