Job description

Job Description Summary

The Small Uncrewed Engines Systems Engineering Team seeks an experienced Weapon System Integration (WSI) Lead to provide technical leadership for all integration activities supporting the GEK800 propulsion system. This role owns all functional and physical interface requirements between the GEK800 propulsion system and weapon system airframes, including mechanical, electrical, fluid, thermal, and control interfaces. You will serve as the primary technical interface with weapon system integrators, airframe manufacturers, and Department of War customers, ensuring seamless propulsion system integration. A key responsibility is ownership of the Airframe Interface Control Model (AICM) within the CAMEO Model-Based Systems Engineering environment. Travel approximately once every 4‑5 weeks (2‑3 days) to customer and partner sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead weapon system integration strategy for the GEK800 propulsion system, serving as technical authority for all propulsion‑to‑airframe interfaces and coordinating across GE Aerospace, external partners, weapon system prime contractors, and Department of War customers.
  • Own and maintain the Airframe Interface Control Model (AICM) in CAMEO as the authoritative source for all interface definitions (mechanical, electrical, fluid, thermal, data, functional), generating ICDs, specifications, and drawings directly from the model.
  • Manage interface requirements and ICDs, translating system‑level requirements into propulsion interface requirements with full traceability, coordinating with prime contractors, and managing configuration control.
  • Serve as primary technical interface with external partners, managing technical reviews, working groups, and interface data packages for reviews and deliverables.
  • Champion FLIGHT DECK principles, lean engineering practices, and digital engineering initiatives to advance Model‑Based Systems Engineering and improve integration efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in systems integration, weapon system integration, or aerospace systems engineering, with demonstrated experience managing complex interfaces between propulsion systems and airframes/weapon systems.
  • Strong understanding of propulsion system integration including mechanical, electrical, fluid, thermal, and control interfaces.
  • Proficiency with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, specifically CAMEO Systems Modeler or equivalent SysML‑based tools.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface specifications.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles including requirements management, interface control, and verification planning.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work effectively with diverse teams, customers, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex organizational interfaces and drive consensus across stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with geographically distributed teams.
  • Must obtain and maintain U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with expendable propulsion systems, small uncrewed engines, or weapon system applications.
  • Experience with cruise missiles, air‑launched weapon systems, or advanced weapon platforms.
  • Department of War weapon system development and integration experience.
  • Advanced CAMEO Systems Modeler proficiency including interface modeling, parametric modeling, and model‑based documentation generation.
  • Experience with digital engineering, digital thread, and model‑based enterprise initiatives.
  • Knowledge of weapon system control architectures and propulsion‑weapon system control interfaces.
  • Experience with structural or thermal analysis supporting interface design.
  • Familiarity with military standards (MIL‑STD‑1553, MIL‑STD‑461).
  • Experience with configuration management, change control, and baseline management processes.
  • Familiarity with GE Aerospace's FLIGHT DECK operating model.
  • Active DoW security clearance.
  • INCOSE CSEP certification or Lean Six Sigma training.
  • Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill) and integration with MBSE tools.
