Route Trainee Role Overview

The Route Trainee is responsible for delivering and merchandising products, which includes placing orders, stocking, rotating, and setting up shelves, setting up displays, cooler stocking/rotation, storage room organization, and product movement to the sales floor. The job also requires the ability to use a handheld to order products and/or run invoices.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Drive and maneuver a truck having a gross vehicle weight under 26,000 pounds; operate a company car/pick‑up truck.
• Fill and merchandise all coolers, displays, racks, shelves, and vendor areas in accordance with PBV standards.
• Deliver and place orders/run invoices in accounts; create and utilize point‑of‑sale signage.
• Sell and execute all promotions.
• Service all customers as scheduled.
• Verify all cases and monies are correct at the end of the day and obtain signed invoices from customers.
• Communicate with customers and co‑workers.
• Follow company rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on business channel.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED highly preferred, or three to five years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform basic financial calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Capability to perform heavy physical labor for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
• Self‑starter with excellent follow‑up skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Meeting PBV driving qualifications.
• Willingness to work hours necessary to complete assigned tasks.
