Pepsi Bottling Ventures is seeking a Trainee-DOT to join our team in Winston-Salem, NC. This role focuses on learning all aspects of the Route Delivery Driver position, including safe vehicle operation and duties across bulk, small format, on-premise, and general store accounts.

The Trainee-DOT will deliver, unload, and merchandize products in customer accounts while adhering to PBV and customer standards and all safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class A CDL required.
• Must pass a DOT physical prior to first day of employment.
• CDL permit must be obtainable within 45 business days if not currently held.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Must meet PBV driving qualifications and be willing to work hours necessary to complete tasks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre/post-trip inspections per DOT requirements and report issues.
• Safely drive a truck with CDL to service accounts along a designated route.
• Unload products and ensure proper check-in procedures.
• Stock shelves, racks, coolers, and displays with proper rotation.
• Break down boxes and manage returns to ensure credits.
• Obtain signatures and invoices for end-of-day settlements.
• Communicate issues to store personnel and management.
• Follow DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

We are seeking a Trainee-DOT to join our team.

Role Overview

The Trainee-DOT is primarily responsible for learning all aspects of a Route Delivery Driver role, including the safe and efficient operation of the delivery vehicle. The Trainee-DOT will service accounts (Bulk, Small Format, On-Premise, and Dollar General) along a designated route efficiently and effectively by delivering, unloading, and merchandising products in customer accounts according to PBV and customer standards, adhering to all company, state, and federal safety and driving regulations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct pre/post-trip inspection on truck according to DOT requirements and promptly report problems to the fleet department.
• Safely drive and maneuver a truck with a gross vehicle weight under or over 26,000 pounds.
• Safely unload product, ensuring proper check-in procedures.
• Stock shelves, racks, coolers, and displays, ensuring proper rotation.
• Break down boxes and remove flats, damages, and empty cases to ensure proper credit is given.
• Obtain required signatures, store stamps, and invoices to ensure proper settlement at the end of the day.
• Communicate issues to appropriate store personnel and management.
• Follow all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years of commercial driving experience with a CDL is preferred.
• Class A CDL required.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical prior to the first day of employment.
• Must be able to obtain a CDL permit within 45 business days if a CDL is not currently held.
• Positive attitude and must be detail oriented.
• Perform basic financial calculations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Strong focus on customer satisfaction.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
• Excellent customer service skills.
