Job summary

Target is seeking a Small Format Team Leader to guide daily store operations in our Austin, TX location. You will lead a team of hourly team members, deliver on Target's guest experience commitments, and ensure the store runs smoothly from opening to closing.

You’ll train, coach, and evaluate staff, assign tasks, and model inclusive, ethical conduct while maintaining safety and merchandise standards. Daily duties include managing stock and pricing, coordinating backroom and sales floor

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
• Lead and hold others accountable.
• Learn and adapt to current technology needs.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude towards all guests and team members.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks.
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other tech.

Responsibilities

• Deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience.
• Ensure every team member is trained and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments.
• Observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
• Review area metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align the team on goals.
• Understand sales goals and plan daily/weekly workload with guidance from leadership.
• Demonstrate a service culture and model the service standard.
• Enable a consistent experience by keeping stock, pricing, and signage accurate.
• Be an expert of operations, accuracy, and process efficiency.
• With guidance, manage incoming/outgoing products and maintain stock levels.
• Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic.
• Lead backroom and sales floor activities with leadership direction.
• Enable efficient pick, pack, and ship fulfillment where applicable.
• Evaluate candidates for open positions and support onboarding.
• Close knowledge gaps through training and development.
• Establish goals and hold the team accountable to expectations.
• Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Lead and model safety culture and security processes.
• Support merchandise protection strategies and best practices.
• Follow store on-duty responsibilities and address emergencies.
• Assist with guest services like back-up cashier, OPU, and Drive Up.
• All other duties based on business needs.
