Job summary

Akima Intra-Data (AID) seeks a skilled Small Engine & Equipment Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair outdoor power equipment and heavy‑duty landscaping tools. You will service STIHL hand tools, John Deere tractors, and Vermeer chippers, with a strong emphasis on engines, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance.

The role offers a base hourly rate of $26.24 plus an additional $5.70/hr for health and welfare, and requires 4 years of hands-on mechanical experience, a valid driver’s license,

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience as a small engine, agricultural, landscaping, or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing small gasoline engines.
• Familiarity with STIHL equipment or other similar power tools.
• Experience servicing John Deere tractors or similar agricultural equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain STIHL chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, cut‑off saws, and other handheld equipment.
• Service and repair John Deere tractors and related attachments.
• Diagnose and maintain Vermeer woodchippers and other equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes, fuel-system service, and spark plug replacement.
• Inspect equipment for safety and identify potential problems before they cause breakdowns.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Keep the shop, tools, and work areas organized and safe.
• Communicate equipment issues and repair recommendations to management.
• Assist with maintaining an organized inventory of parts, fluids, filters, and repair supplies.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns in the field when necessary.
