Job summary

Akima Intra-Data (AID) is seeking a skilled Small Engine & Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of outdoor power and heavy-duty landscaping equipment in Biloxi, Mississippi. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with STIHL tools, John Deere tractors, and Vermeer chippers, and a strong understanding of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance.

Base pay is $26.24 per hour with an additional $5.70 per hour for health and welfare.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience as a small engine, agricultural, landscaping, or heavy equipment mechanic.
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing small gasoline engines.
• Familiarity with STIHL equipment or other power tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain STIHL chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, cut-off saws, and other handheld equipment.
• Service and repair John Deere tractors and related attachments.
• Diagnose and maintain Vermeer woodchippers and other equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance including oil changes, fuel-system service, spark plug replacement, belt and blade inspection, greasing, battery and charging-system maintenance, and hydraulic inspections.
• Troubleshoot gasoline and diesel engines and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel-system issues.
• Perform engine tune-ups, carburetor repairs, and starting/charging-system repairs.
• Inspect equipment for safety, keep repair records, maintain organized shop and inventory, and communicate issues to management.
