Job description

Small Business Banker II (Inside Sales)

The Virtual Business Banker II (VBB II) is responsible for daily operations, execution, and support of inbound/outbound phone-based retention and sales efforts within a phone-based environment. VBB II focuses on proactively retaining and deepening existing portfolios of complex, high-net-worth small business owner relationships through cross-selling additional products and services. The role involves building relationships that may lead to sourcing additional products through outbound calls. A solid understanding of the complex business cash flow cycle and advanced business credit sales skills are essential, utilizing an existing multi-touch client contact strategy and sales process. Customers typically include Business Banker clients, including complex portfolios managed by Business Banker Managers, Senior Managers, and Directors.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Relationship management, retention, and deepening of the assigned book of business, along with acquiring new relationships through leads, referrals, and campaigns.
  2. Building and fostering a strong partner network with teams such as Treasury Management, Merchant Services, Business Card Reps, Market Credit, and Sales Support.
  3. Successfully multitasking in a virtual setting, proactively engaging clients and prospects.
  4. Navigating customer relationship management software and relevant applications efficiently.
  5. Utilizing the Sales Relationship Management system for calls, pipeline activities, and sales results.
  6. Maintaining regular contact with clients and leads to generate high-quality deposit, treasury, and lending business to meet or exceed targets.
  7. Understanding complex business cash flow cycles, including treasury management and financial statements.
  8. Assessing customer needs and recommending suitable products or solutions.
  9. Establishing rapport with clients, maintaining product knowledge, and recommending appropriate solutions.
  10. Referring customers to appropriate channels for complex product needs and following up.
  11. Understanding problem resolution processes and referring servicing issues appropriately.
  12. Executing risk management and compliance protocols within the sales process and interactions.
  13. Adhering to regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  14. Collaborating on special projects or initiatives.
  15. Demonstrating Capital One’s values in all interactions.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of Business Banking experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Business Banking experience.
  • 1+ year of phone-based sales experience.
  • Formal credit training.
