Job summary

Cedar Crossing Casino & Entertainment Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Slot Technician / Bench Technician to monitor electronic gaming devices, ensure machine operability, and uphold internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Required are a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of slot/bench technician experience with strong PC skills. A+ Certification is preferred; willingness to learn new tasks and work varied shifts is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Slot Technician / Bench Technician with A+ Certification preferred.
  • Must have excellent PC skills. Working knowledge of word processors and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.
  • Maintains the electronic components, systems, and peripherals of gaming machines.
  • Repairs and modifies components, electric systems and peripherals of the gaming machines and kiosks.
  • Configures slot and video machines to meet manufacturers and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Removes, moves, installs and/or upgrades slot machines.
  • Maintains an inventory of parts for the slot machines.
  • Monitors and tracks the slot machine malfunctions, the cause, the repair, and the parts involved.
  • Identifies recurring issues and recommends corrective action to reduce downtime and improve machine reliability.
  • Tests and validates machine performance following repairs, installs, or upgrades to ensure full operational compliance before returning to service.
  • Executives scheduled preventative maintenance programs on all gaming devices to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Maintains detailed maintenance logs and ensure compliance with preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Inspects machines for wear, security risks, or environmental damage and proactively address issues before failure occurs.
  • Accurately documents all repairs, maintenance, and part replacements in the slot management system.
  • Minimizes guest disruption during repairs by maintaining professionalism and efficiency on the gaming floor.
  • Responds promptly to guest‑reported machine issues, providing clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Educates guests on machine operation, including ticketing systems, loyalty programs, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Tracks and records all test money usage and testing results.
  • Notifies shift supervisor of irregularities in customers play.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Responsible for attending to guests needs.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  • Effectively handles customer concerns and requests.
  • Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.
  • Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for monitoring the performance of electronic gaming devices, activity, and conditions of casino gaming areas, ensuring all slot machines are operable and in gaood repair. Ensure compliance with approved procedures for the slot areas in a professional manner. Protects company assets by adhering to company policies and all state and regulatory compliance to include Internal Controls Policies and Procedures and the Responsible Gaming Plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following statements are intended as an overview of key responsibilities of the work for this position and are not all inclusive:

  • Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED required.Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Slot Technician / Bench Technician with A+ Certification preferred. Must have excellent PC skills. Working knowledge of word processors and spread sheets. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Must have a willingness to learn new tasks.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.
  • Obtain and maintain required license(s).
  • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.
  • Have knowledge of property programs to address problem gambling.
  • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.
  • Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Must have ability to:

  • Move around all work areas effectively and efficiently.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Work with other Team Members in moving the box cart with a maximum of 400lbs.
  • Work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels, may be exposed to secondhand smoke and varied light levels, including flashing lights.
  • Stand, walk, bend for entire shift.
