Job summary

Summit Polymers in Michigan seeks an Engineer, Manufacturing (SLMS) to lead the implementation of the Summit Lean Manufacturing System across the plant, focusing on value stream improvements, kaizen activities, and standardized work.

The successful candidate will be hands-on on the shop floor, capable of analyzing data in Excel, guiding teams from operators to management, and driving projects with a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or 3 years manufacturing experience.
• 3 years manufacturing experience.
• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead SLMS implementation across the facility.
• Conduct SLMS audits and kaizen activities derived from the audits.
• Analyze manufacturing methods for process improvement, work balance and cost reduction using kaizen mentality and standardized work development tools.
• Teach SLMS principles to plant employees from shop floor to management.
• Lead and manage projects with independent decision-making on the shop floor.
• Develop and maintain plant floor layouts.
• Occasional travel to other SPI plants.
