Job summary

Kloeckner Metals - Americas is seeking a Slitting Line Assistant to support the Operator and ensure optimal productivity, quality, and yield on the slitting line. This role includes substituting for the Operator during training periods, absenteeism, or vacations.

Responsibilities include material handling, following instructions, logging downtime in Steel II, verifying setups, and performing quality checks while developing toward Operator proficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills for measurement and calculations.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of experience in a production process, preferably in the metals industry.
• Knowledge of reading measuring devices.
• Basic computer knowledge for system interactions and data entry.
• Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility.
• Demonstrated reliable work history.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and quality.

Responsibilities

• Material handling: Move material to and from the machine efficiently.
• Follow production instructions provided by the paired Operator.
• Log downtime in Steel II and enter codes accurately.
• Assist in verifying machine setups throughout production.
• Periodically measure dimensions to ensure accuracy.
• Engage in continuous training to become a proficient Operator.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
