Job summary

Crown Battery Mfg. in Fremont, OH is seeking a SLI Forklift Operator to move materials, support production needs, and ensure safe handling of hazardous waste according to plant rules.

JOB TITLE: SLI Forklift Operator DEPARTMENT:Manufacturing

JOB SUMMARY: The SLI Forklift Operator is responsible for moving and handling materials within the manufacturing facility by following the work instructions pertaining to the following essential functions and processes. This position is responsible for responding when paged by operators to assist in production needs. The SLI Forklift Operator is responsible for labeling hazardous waste and scrap containers, and the operator will comply with all plant Health, Safety and Environmental rules.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Is responsible for:
• Understanding and following policies, procedures and instructions.
• Identifying and reporting product, process and quality system non-conformities to lead personnel.
• Supporting implementation of corrective/preventative and improvement actions.
• Proper use of personal protective equipment when required.
• Responding when paged to areas as soon as possible, as not to hinder production.
• Transporting raw materials, racks, skids, and other materials to the line to ensure uninterrupted flow of production.
• Transporting grids and pasted plates as needed.
• Removing finished goods from the line to ensure uninterrupted workflow of production.
• Must comply with all plant Health Safety and Environmental rules.
• Transporting scrap and hazardous waste containers to the Recycle Pad/Hazardous Waste Area.
• Transporting empty scrap and hazardous waste containers to plant locations when paged.
• Labeling hazardous waste and scrap containers.
• Entering scrap & hazardous waste data into logs daily.
• Maintaining and organizing racks and shelves.
• Be familiar and compliant with the systems, procedures and documentation of the Crown Quality System and how it relates to this position and Crown quality objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be 18 years of age

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand/walk for 8-10 hours at a time. Bending, twisting, and turning. Full use of both hands to finger, handle, or fell objects, tools, or tooling; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk to hear. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 75 pounds frequently and in excess of 140 pounds infrequently. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must follow OSHA guidelines on respirator fit testing and proper wear. Will wear goggles or face shield at all times while in department.
