Job summary

UPMC Sleep Center is seeking a Sleep Technician Trainee to support patient care during sleep studies while in the ASTEP program. You will work under supervision of a Registered Sleep Technologist to prepare patients, educate them on procedures, and score sleep studies.

Responsibilities include performing treatments, stocking supplies, cleaning equipment and rooms, and completing required training and monthly evaluations as part of ongoing competency development.

Qualifications

• Must enroll and complete ASTEP within 1 year of hire.
• Strong patient care and communication skills.
• Ability to work under supervision of sleep professionals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for sleep testing
• Educate patients on sleep lab testing procedure
• Analyze and score sleep studies
• Perform therapeutic treatments and interventions
• Inventory and restock lab supplies
• Clean equipment and patient rooms
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complete monthly ISR as a training scorer. Attend monthly staff meeting and required department/facility training.
