Job summary

UNC Health Appalachian is seeking a Sleep Technician Trainee to gain hands-on experience in sleep medicine. You will prepare patients for diagnostic sleep studies, monitor physiologic data, and operate sleep equipment under supervision.

The role requires ASTEP completion, BLS, and a commitment to developing CPSGT/RPSGT credentials within one year. Location is Boone, NC with benefits and non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of an Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program (ASTEP) required.
• Current BLS certification upon hire.
• Must obtain CPSGT and/or RPSGT within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies.
• Monitor patients and ensure safety during sleep studies.
• Document care and maintain accurate records.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot sleep technology equipment.
• Support CPAP/BiPAP titration under supervision.
• Communicate effectively with patients and health-care team.
