Job summary

Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, part of UnitedHealth Group/Optum, is seeking a Sleep Tech on a per diem basis in Houston. You’ll perform polysomnography, guide patients, calibrate equipment, and ensure high-quality data collection across sleep studies.

Responsibilities include patient education, data scoring, and coordination with the sleep disorders team. This role offers hourly compensation with benefits as part of the Optum network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited program.
• Completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year OR 6+ months as a Polysomnographic Trainee with documented proficiency.
• BRPT certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
• Certified Sleep Educator or eligible and/or Credentialed Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS through American Heart Association.
• 6+ months of experience in a sleep lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze patient information to meet patient-specific needs.
• Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures to the patient.
• Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing and adjust as needed.
• Apply electrodes and sensors according to standards.
• Perform physiological calibrations and PAP mask fitting.
• Follow polysomnography protocols to collect data and document results.
• Score sleep stages and clinical events, and generate reports.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and equipment care.
• Coordinate appointments and manage data in systems; ensure data integrity.
• Provide patient education and act as a resource for staff.
• Adhere to laws and regulations; participate in meetings and training.
