Job summary

Hendricks Regional Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a third shift position in the sleep diagnostic center. You will administer tests and treatments, monitor patients, and communicate progress to the ordering practitioner to support inpatient and outpatient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous sleep lab experience required.
• Preferred: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST). Considered: RRT willing to enroll in A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within 2 years of enrollment OR enrolled in or have completed polysomnography training in CAAHEP/CoARC program with polysomnography option.

Responsibilities

• Administers tests and treatments (oxygen therapy, sleep study, CPAP titration) for inpatients and outpatients.
• Operates equipment (oxygen flowmeter, pulse oximeter, sleep test console, CPAP/BiPAP devices).
• Assembles sleep and respiratory therapy equipment for patient care and disassembles after use.
• Processes daily patient charges following established policies.
• Records pertinent comments and clinical assessments in the medical record.
• Responds to patient needs up to CPR.
• Initiates and documents CPAP/BiPAP parameters after competency.
• Conducts patient interview/assessment and required testing per department policies.
• Maintains departmental statistical records.
• Consults with ordering physician, medical director and other healthcare professionals to assure appropriate testing or therapy.
• Uses common sense and professional skills to care for the sick or handicapped per patient age/diagnosis.
• Promotes an environment of patient safety at all times.
