Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a Polysomnographer PRN to perform nocturnal and diurnal monitoring for patients with sleep disorders. The role requires independent work with varied equipment, following standards of practice.

You will join a respected team within the HCA Healthcare network, contributing to patient care across shifts, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate.
• 1 Year of Experience Is Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate verbally via telephone.
• Communicate verbally in a face-to-face situation.
• Communicate in written form.
• Communicate and convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Inspect machinery, office equipment, and/or medical equipment.

• Utilize reasoning and problem-solving skills.
• Occasional exposure to irregular hours and patient environments.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs intensive nocturnal and, if indicated, diurnal monitoring of physiologic and neurological parameters in patients of varying ages and medical conditions who are referred for sleep dysfunctions. Testing is performed in accordance with the standards of practice as defined by Tomball Regional Medical Center and the Association of Sleep Disorders Centers. The polysomnographic technologist works independently, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments and demonstrates good judgment and decision making in the treatment and handling of the individual patient.

• Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
• May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements
• Subject to varying and unpredictable situations

• Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
• Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
• Handles absentee replacement on short notice
