Job summary

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) is seeking a SkyCam Operator for our Fort Worth, Texas projects. The role involves safe framing, focus and operation of the SkyCam system during live broadcasts, with coordination among pilots, EIC, NOC and TOM.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of related camera/remote head experience; MS Windows proficiency and basic electronics knowledge are a plus. This is a contract role working with the Production Skycam department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience in remote camera/pan/tilt head operation or drone operation, preferably in media or production.
• Proficiency in MS Windows and understanding of basic electronics and networking.
• Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at time of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree may be preferred depending on role

Responsibilities

• Frame, focus and stabilize SkyCam shots for live broadcasts.
• Operate SkyCam system following safety protocols and procedures.
• Interface with Pilot, EIC, TOM and NOC to ensure safe operation.
• Set up, rig and position SkyCam for client events.
• Report equipment issues and provide recommendations to the Pilot, EIC, TOM and NOC.
• Attend client meetings and represent safety capabilities on site.

SkyCam® is a leading designer, manufacturer and operator of mobile aerial cameras systems. SkyCam® plays a significant role in changing the way live sporting events are broadcast, including NFL, NBA, NHL, etc.

Nature of Work:

Under general supervision, the main duty of the SkyCam Operator is to ensure the safe and effective framing, focus and operation of the SkyCam system delivering the most exciting shots to live-event broadcasts through sound processes and operations and effective communication between the Pilot, EIC, Technical Operations manager and Sky-NOC.

Examples of work performed:

• Frame, Focus and provide stabilized acquisition of directed and undirected shots through use use remote heads and gimbals.
• Follow and Operate the SkyCam system within the safe protocols and procedures established.
• Interfaces directly with the Pilot, EIC, and Technical Operations Manager and NOC to ensure safe and proper installation.
• Capable of flying and orienting and positioning SkyCam system for camera operators live events
• Familiar with the operation of all necessary tools and the various pieces and parts to assemble and rig the system.
• Works under the direction of the NOC & Technical Operations Manager regarding the deployment of the system and the maintenance and repair of the systems.
• Communicates all technical needs and irregular operations to the onsite Pilot, EIC, NOC and TOM
• Attends Camera meetings and represents safe capabilities to clients
• While on client job sites, responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Equipment setup and operation.
2. Interfacing with client and venue personnel.
3. Safe operation of equipment (weather, equipment breakdowns, etc.)..
4. Report and directly communicate all equipment issues and recommendations to the Pilot, EIC, TOM and NOC.
5. Provide updates to site surveys as needed.

• Ensure all safety schedules and protocols are flowed including Pre-Flight, NOC, and flight parameters

• The noise in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Extensive domestic and international travel; must possess or able to obtain US Passport.
• Extremely high stress environment, fast-paced with multi-level distractions.
• Ability to work extended hours; nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Valid Driver’s License as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum

1. High school diploma required. High School or GED
2. One (1) year of progressively responsible experience in remote camera/ pan/tilt head operation, aircraft operation and control, drone operation and control, and/or a strong background preferably in media, broadcasting, technical, IT, engineering, or production industry.
3. Proficient in the use of MS Windows and an understanding of basic electronics and networking is a must.
4. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

1. Bachelor’s degree preferred (AS or Technical School acceptable).
