Job summary

Commercial Steel Erection, Inc. seeks an on-site welder to join metal parts using FCAW or SMAW methods. You will follow welding diagrams and work orders, ensuring quality welds while maintaining safety standards.

The role includes setting up equipment, preparing parts, and working with the Foreman on daily tasks. Prerequisites include 2+ years of welding experience, ability to read schematics, and familiarity with OSHA, AISC and AWS welding standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret welding diagrams and work orders.
• Knowledge of OSHA, AISC & AWS welding standards.

Responsibilities

• Understand and follow safety rules; assist Foreman on site.
• Inspect hazards and identify welding-related risks.
• Position parts in jigs or fixtures and lay out as directed.
• Obtain electrodes and insert into welding equipment; select torch and filler materials.
• Connect cables, set amperage/voltage, and adjust gas flows.
• Strike an arc and deposit weld metal to join edges.
• Guide torch along welds with proper angle and speed.
• Prepare parts by grooving or scarfing; clean and degrease welds.
• Inspect weld beads and repair cracked or damaged metal as needed.
