Position Summary Skilled manual and technical work at near journeyman level with basic skill in HVAC and general knowledge of other trades. This individual will be responsible for inspecting, maintenance, and the ability to perform minor repairs needed on HVAC packaged equipment and air-cooled systems on UGA’s main campus. Work is generally assigned by the shop foreman and will mostly work under the general supervision of other experienced mechanics. Work to include performing maintenance of these systems such as cleaning coils, changing out basic parts, repairs needed to window units, and assisting other mechanics on bigger jobs. At times and within capabilities, this position will work independently to perform lower-level duties and may on occasion work beyond normal duty hours resulting from emergency or high priority work. The position provides the opportunity to learn and develop the knowledge and skills needed to be considered for future HVAC mechanic vacancies.
