Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room by preparing sterile instruments, maintaining asepsis, and anticipating the surgical team's needs.

Requires an Associate degree or equivalent in Surgical Technology with professional certification and at least 1 year of perioperative experience, plus on-call availability as required. Mercy Health provides a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required)
• Certification by CST/NBSTSA/TS-C or NCCT (required)
• 1 year of perioperative or related surgical tech experience preferred
• BSMH policy knowledge and patient safety principles

Responsibilities

• Functions as the scrub person during operative procedures by assembling supplies and equipment.
• Prepares sterile supplies and instruments and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN.
• Maintains sterile field and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Retrieves and labels specimens correctly.
• Assist with pre/post procedure cleaning and room turnaround.
• Participates in ongoing education and competency verification.
• Ensures safety and quality in patient care and radiographic/aseptic practices
