Job summary

Summit at Snoqualmie seeks a Snowmaker II to build on Snowmaker I principles, operating a broader range of snowmaking equipment on mountainous terrain with greater independence.

This hands-on, physically demanding role requires troubleshooting, safe operation, and able to work on day and night shifts in all weather. Wage starts at $26.50–$27.00/hr DOE; this is a non-benefited position.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of snowmaking or mountain operations experience.
• Experience troubleshooting equipment issues and assessing snow quality.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be physically capable of negotiating all types of mountainous terrain.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high safety standards.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assess variability in wind direction each night, planning gun runs proactively to prevent ice buildup on guns, chairs, trees, etc.
• Work independently on full gun runs, managing own time and terrain decisions.
• Operate SMI Automated Valve Manifolds and hydrant actuators, including stage selection and actuator clamp installation.
• Operate HTM H-Series hydrants with internal drain, including drain valve procedures.
• Configure nozzle settings, inspect spray manifolds, and check/adjust nucleators on tower guns.
• Assess snow quality, distinguishing wet, dry, and low-quality output from optimal snow production.
• Troubleshoot common gun issues, including frozen nozzles, clogged orifices, and low pressure.
• Communicate accurate and timely gun-state changes via radio.
• Operate Snowmobiles/ATVs/UTVs safely on steep, variable mountain terrain.
