Job summary

Wilkerson Crane Rental, Inc. is seeking a skilled mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of machinery, vehicles, and equipment used on construction sites.

You will perform engine work, brake and transmission tasks, and electrical system troubleshooting, ensuring repairs meet manufacturer specs and safety standards. You will document service history, communicate with customers and vendors, and work outdoors at heights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be a member of Local 234 Union or willing to join upon hire.
• Technical School Training (preferred) in automotive repair, diesel technology, or related field.
• Several years of mechanic/technician experience diagnosing and repairing vehicles or equipment.
• CDL required.
• Repair, maintenance and troubleshooting on engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other components.
• Ability to work outdoors and at heights.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to site-specific protocols.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of machinery, vehicles, or equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
• Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and technical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Perform repairs and maintenance tasks including engine, brakes, transmission, and electrical system work.
• Replace faulty parts meeting manufacturer specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service history.
• Adhere to safety protocols and site regulations while working.
• Conduct post-repair tests and quality checks to ensure proper function.
• Communicate repair needs, estimated costs, and timelines to customers and vendors.
• Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and work areas.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
