Qualifications

• Requires successful completion of a union sponsored apprenticeship training program to qualify as a journeyman laborer.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of skilled work below the journeyman level, including mixing mortar, by operating a motorized mortar mixer, for use by the bricklayers.
• Erects and dismantles scaffolding for bricklaying jobs; places walkways and boards on scaffolding.
• Maintains stock of bricks and blocks for use by the bricklayers.
• Assist in removing marble, caulking and variety of masonry material.
• May perform a variety of semiskilled tasks such as cleaning, greasing, painting and making minor repairs to machinery, gears and other appurtenances.
• May supervise a small group of seasonal laborers.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
