Job summary

Office of the Illinois Secretary of State in Springfield, IL is seeking a Maintenance Mason Tender. The role involves skilled work below journeyman level, including mortar mixing for bricklayers, erecting scaffolding, and maintaining brick/blocks stock.

Qualifications

Requires successful completion of a union sponsored apprenticeship to qualify as a journeyman laborer.
Strong knowledge of mortar mixing and preparation.
Ability to erect/dismantle scaffolding and manage bricks/blocks.

Responsibilities

Performs skilled work below journeyman level, including mortar mixing for bricklayers.
Erects and dismantles scaffolding for bricklaying jobs; places walkways on scaffolding.
Maintains stock of bricks and blocks for bricklayers.
Assists in removing marble, caulking and masonry materials.
May perform semi-skilled tasks like cleaning, greasing, painting and minor machinery repairs.
May supervise a small group of seasonal laborers.
Performs other duties as required.
