Job summary

Amentum seeks a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to repair, rebuild, and maintain government vehicles, including buses, trucks and tractors. You will diagnose malfunctions and troubleshoot issues to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Role requires hands-on expertise with diagnostics, electrical and mechanical systems, and documentation of work orders. Ability to communicate status to customers and management is essential; safety and quality are central to daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 years minimum experience in diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of light, medium, heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment.
• Must have a valid and current state driver's license.
• Must be knowledgeable of gasoline and diesel vehicle preventive maintenance programs.
• Excellent record of safety operations and working knowledge of safety standards for motor vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs government vehicles.
• Completes maintenance tickets and repair orders in a timely manner.
• Uses on-board diagnostics and test equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
• Interacts with customers to inform them of status and needed repairs.
• Performs engine tune-ups, fluids checks, and safety inspections.
