Job summary

Amentum seeks a skilled Special Purpose Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic to operate, repair, maintain, and test heavy equipment including 25K/60K loaders and related vehicles. The role involves field and shop tasks, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Responsibilities include data collection, parts coordination, and entering work orders in MAXIMO/DPAS, while adhering to regulatory and company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed or trained to operate applicable heavy equipment.
• Experience in repair of major systems.
• Prefer motor vehicle air conditioning certification.
• Specialized knowledge in diesel and heavy automotive repair.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of US military heavy vehicles and equipment and OSHA/ANSI/ASME standards.

Responsibilities

• Conducts Mobile Maintenance duties and replaces hydraulic lines, pneumatic equipment, air conditioning systems, wheels/tires, wipers, and light bulbs.
• Performs heavy equipment maintenance including installation, repair, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance.
• Disassembles and reassembles engines and mechanical units to inspect parts using test equipment and gauges.
• Replaces and rebuilds hydraulic cylinders, valves, drive units, suspensions, and bearings.
• Performs operator care such as washing, vacuuming, and cleaning.
• Follows manufacturer guidelines on service and maintenance for vehicles.
• Maintains safety and environmental practices in the workplace.
