Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to repair, overhaul, diagnose, and maintain government vehicles and equipment. You will troubleshoot malfunctions, perform tests, and collaborate with customers to communicate repair status.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience with gasoline and diesel systems, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to safety, quality, and timely service in a demanding shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years diagnosing, repairing and maintaining light to heavy automotive equipment.
• Valid and current state driver's license.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read and follow technical manuals and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs government vehicles.
• Completes maintenance tickets and repair orders promptly.
• Inspects and tests equipment for defects and fixes.
• Uses on-board diagnostics to test emission and control systems.
• Communicates with customers about status and needed repairs.
• Performs oil changes, checks fluids, and honors safety requirements.
