Job summary

Amentum seeks a Vehicle Mechanic to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle malfunctions and repair problems for government vehicles in Texarkana, TX. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair a range of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience, ability to read manuals, maintain logs, and communicate repair status to customers. Strong safety and regulatory knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 years minimum experience in diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of automotive/equipment.
• Must have a valid and current state driver's license.
• Knowledge of gasoline and diesel vehicle preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong safety operation record and knowledge of motor vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of tools and practices used in repair and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical malfunctions.
• Ability to read technical manuals and specifications.
• Ability to operate hand tools, diagnostic equipment and jacks.
• Must be able to complete paperwork for maintenance and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair government vehicles.
• Complete maintenance tickets and repair orders promptly.
• Inspect, diagnose, and locate vehicle malfunctions.
• Repair assigned vehicles to ensure safety and dependability.
• Perform oil changes and fluid checks.
• Road-test vehicles after maintenance and repairs.
• Interact with customers to inform on status and needed repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
