Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks across City facilities. You will review work orders, determine needed repairs, and complete tasks under supervisor guidance.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, some skilled maintenance experience, and a valid driver's license. Light reading of sketches and blueprints may be required, with evening or weekend shifts possible based on needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; vocational courses preferred.
• Some experience on a skilled level in building maintenance and repair work.
• Valid driver's license in state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Serve as facilities contact for contractors performing trade maintenance in City facilities.
• Disassemble, modify, and assemble office systems furniture and install fixtures.
• Perform rough and finish carpentry, drywall, painting, and related repairs.
• Conduct electrical maintenance including bulb replacement and testing.
• Carry out plumbing, HVAC preventive maintenance and preventive inspections.
• Install, replace, and repair doors, windows, and locking hardware.
• Support generator fuel checks and snow removal; perform general maintenance and cleanup.
