Job summary

City of Alexandria, LA is seeking personnel for semi-skilled to skilled work in construction, maintenance, landscaping and grounds-keeping of city infrastructure, utilities, facilities and property. Department duties include skilled concrete finishing, roadwork, drainage, and general facilities maintenance.

Positions may require working around power lines, operating a variety of power equipment, and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of experience in construction and maintenance of public infrastructure, utilities, facilities, and property.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license; Louisiana Class D license within one month of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled/construction and maintenance work on city roads, utilities, facilities, and property.
• Operate power equipment and hand tools used in department projects.
• Respond to emergency calls during inclement weather or other situations; ensure safety for workers and the public.

Experience in construction & public-in

Valid driver’s license

Ability to read & follow work orders
