Job summary

The QPS Employment Group in Bridgeton, MO seeks an experienced Diesel & Trailer Mechanic to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel trucks, trailers, chassis, and related equipment.

This direct hire role requires hands-on repair of brakes, air systems, lighting, landing gear, trailer doors, and major components, plus preventative maintenance and safe operation of shop tools.

Position Title: Diesel & Trailer Mechanics
Wage: $27.00-$30.00/hour
Shift: Multiple
Hours: Flexible between 6:00am-12:00am Monday-Friday
QPS Employment Group is seeking an experienced Diesel & Trailer Mechanic to join a team in Bridgeton, MO. This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of diesel trucks, trailers, chassis, and related equipment. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Inspect trucks and trailers to identify mechanical, electrical, structural, and safety-related issues
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailers, chassis, light trucks, and large trucks
• Repair and replace components, including brakes, air systems, lighting/electrical systems, axles, suspension components, landing gear, trailer doors
• Perform major trailer body repairs, including panel replacement and top/bottom rail repairs
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
• Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections
• Safely operate forklifts and other heavy equipment when necessary
• Utilize shop tools and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and protocols
• Work independently while also collaborating with the maintenance team
• Complete repairs accurately and efficiently to minimize equipment downtime

Requirements

• Previous diesel and trailer repair experience required
• Strong hands-on experience repairing and maintaining trailers and vehicles
• Experience with brakes, air systems, lighting, landing gear, and trailer doors
• Experience performing trailer body repairs, including panel and rail replacement
• Diesel repair experience
• Welding/fabrication experience preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Preferred additional experience in farm machinery, Caterpillar equipment, RV trailers, heavy equipment operation
