Fair Lawn Public Schools seeks a Skilled Carpenter/Locksmith for a 12-month, full-time affiliated role within the district. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferred carpentry apprenticeship and locksmith certification, with 3–5 years of relevant experience in commercial or institutional settings.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of hardware, master key systems, and access controls, with the ability to read blueprints and use digital work-order systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program, preferred.
• Certified Locksmith designation or equivalent documented professional locksmith certification, preferred.
• 3–5 years of documented carpentry/locksmithing experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional settings.
• Knowledge of commercial/institutional carpentry, millwork, and structural maintenance.
• Knowledge of door hardware, master key systems, electronic access controls, panic hardware, and high-security locks.
• Experience managing master key systems and repairing heavy-duty doors/hardware.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and hardware schedules.
• Basic computer literacy for work-order systems, email, and key management software.
• Public school district or public sector experience preferred.
• Valid New Jersey Driver's License for mobile district travel.

We are presently accepting applications for the following position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a recognized carpentry apprenticeship program, preferred
• Certified Locksmith designation or equivalent documented professional locksmith certification, preferred
• A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of successful, documented experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional carpentry and locksmithing
• Comprehensive knowledge of commercial/institutional carpentry, millwork, and structural maintenance
• Advanced technical knowledge of commercial door hardware, master key systems, electronic access controls, panic hardware, and high-security locking mechanisms
• Demonstrated experience in managing comprehensive master key systems and repairing heavy-duty institutional doors/hardware
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, architectural drawings, and hardware schedules
• Basic computer literacy to utilize digital work-order systems, email, and specialized master key management software
• Previous experience working within a public school district or public sector framework, preferred
• Ability to meet deadlines with tight time constraints
• Possession of a valid New Jersey Driver's License for mobile travel between district buildings

Salary Range

$83,055-$91,375 (as of the Fair Lawn Custodians' Association Collective Bargaining Agreement)
