Job summary

Fair Lawn Public School District is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Locksmith to maintain and secure district facilities across buildings on a 12-month basis. The role combines carpentry, locksmithing, and physical security work in a public school environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, carpentry apprenticeship, locksmith certification preferred, 3–5 years of relevant experience, and the ability to read blueprints and use basic digital work-order systems; valid NJ

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of carpentry apprenticeship preferred.
• Certified Locksmith designation or equivalent preferred.
• 3–5 years experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional carpentry and locksmithing.
• Knowledge of commercial/institutional carpentry, millwork, and structural maintenance.
• Advanced knowledge of door hardware, master key systems, electronic access controls, panic hardware, and high-security locking.
• Experience managing master key systems and repairing heavy‑duty institutional doors/hardware.
• Ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and hardware schedules.
• Basic computer literacy for work-order systems, email, and key management software.
