Job summary

University of Vermont is seeking a Building Tradesperson Specialist to perform highly skilled repairs, maintenance, and carpentry across the campus, including historic buildings. You will restore and fabricate interior/exterior components and inspect work by others while adhering to established guidelines and safety rules.

The role requires the ability to read blueprints, experience with asbestos handling, and comfort using computers and mobile tech.

Qualifications

HS diploma or equivalent with six years of experience in two+ skilled trades.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
Experience working around asbestos and asbestos-containing materials.
Experience working in historic buildings.
Experience using computers and mobile technology.
Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Perform highly skilled repairs, maintenance, and construction carpentry throughout the university facilities.
Restore, rebuild, and fabricate interior and exterior components and hardware.
Follow guidelines, specifications, and codes, including historic preservation rules.
Monitor and inspect projects by staff and outside contractors.
Assist in preventative maintenance program development and implementation.
Supervise staff in supervisor's absence and promote safety.
Communicate needs with campus partners and operate university vehicles as needed.
May operate an aerial lift when required.
