Job summary

Mountain Capital Partners LLC in Colorado is seeking a Ski Patrol Dispatcher for the Purgatory ski area. The Dispatcher serves as the communications hub, logs patrol missions, injuries, trail conditions, and on-mountain messages, using the CAD system.

The role requires calm, multi-tasking staff with strong verbal and written communication, high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/AED, and willingness to work weekends/holidays in a seasonal schedule from November 2026 to April 2027.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Strong computer and typing skills.
  • Pass basic ski/snowboard test.
  • Available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and analyze incoming mountain calls and non-emergent messages.
  • Input, retrieve, and maintain vital information in the CAD system.
  • Perform emergency medical dispatch when necessary.
  • Distribute calls via internal radio system.
  • Initiate incident reports for on-mountain injuries and maintain records.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies (Durango 911, Montrose 911, DFPD, LPCSAR, SJMR, FFL).
  • Monitor mountain channels and relay data to Patrol and other departments.

Ski Patrol DispatcherGeneral Purpose:The Dispatcher is the main hub of communication across the mountain. Dispatcher logs and tracks Patrol missions, injuries, trail conditions, and other on-mountain communications.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Dispatcher duties include, but are not limited to:Receive and analyze incoming mountain calls, as well as non-emergent messages from other departments at Purgatory.Utilize computer aided dispatch computer system to input, retrieve, and maintain vital informationPerforming emergency medical dispatch when necessaryDistribute calls for service via internal radio systemInitiate incident reports of on mountain injuries and maintain history recordsMaintain radio log and recordingCoordinate with outside organizations including, Durango 911 Dispatch, Montrose 911 Dispatch, Durango Fire Protection District (DFPD), La Plata County Search and Rescue (LPCSAR), San Juan Medical Rescue and SAR (SJMR), Flight for Life (FFL), and other regional utilized organizations.Monitor all Mountain channels and communicate data to Patrol staff and other mountain departments as needed.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Qualified applicants should be passionate about learning and working in the Public Safety/Emergency Services, and have the ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations. In addition, they must meet the following qualifications:At least 18 years of ageHigh School diploma or equivalentDemonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced, high-stress environmentStrong computer and typing skillsMust be able to pass a basic ski/snowboard testAvailable to work different schedules, including weekends and holidaysAlertness, precision, ingenuity, problem-solving, analytic ability, spatial perception, persuasiveness, memory, creativity, concentration, judgment, aesthetic sense, reasoning, imagination, initiative, patience, visual, tactile and auditory discrimination, strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary abilities. Good organizational skills required.Education and Experience:Education or Formal Training:Current CPR/AEDAdditional Basic First Aid knowledge is a plus.Experience: One to three years prior experience preferred but not requiredWorking Environment/Physical Activities:95% of the work day is spent indoors at Dispatch Station maintaining intermountain and Patrol communications, answering phones, radios, emails. 5% time spent outside in the elements riding chairlift or snowmobile to/from Duty station or skiing down at end of shift.This is a seasonal position from November 2026 to April 2027.
