Job summary

Mountain Capital Partners is seeking a Ski Patrol Dispatcher at Purgatory Resort in Durango, CO to serve as the main communications hub, logging patrol missions and medical responses while monitoring radio and data systems. You will handle calls, input essential information in CAD, coordinate with emergency services, and support safety operations through the ski season.

The role requires strong communication, quick decision-making, and the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic mountain

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer and typing skills required.
  • Must pass basic ski/snowboard test.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and analyze mountain calls and messages from departments.
  • Use CAD to input, retrieve, and maintain information.
  • Perform emergency medical dispatch when necessary.
  • Distribute calls for service via internal radio system.
  • Initiate incident reports and maintain history records.
  • Maintain radio log and recordings.
  • Coordinate with external agencies (911 dispatch, SAR, etc.).
  • Monitor mountain channels and relay data to staff as needed.

Position Type: Seasonal

Salary Range: $19.13 - $19.13 Hourly

Job Shift: Day

Ski Patrol Dispatcher

General Purpose:

The Dispatcher is the main hub of communication across the mountain. Dispatcher logs and tracks Patrol missions, injuries, trail conditions, and other on-mountain communications.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Receive and analyze incoming mountain calls, as well as non-emergent messages from other departments at Purgatory.
  • Utilize computer aided dispatch computer system to input, retrieve, and maintain vital information
  • Performing emergency medical dispatch when necessary
  • Distribute calls for service via internal radio system
  • Initiate incident reports of on mountain injuries and maintain history records
  • Maintain radio log and recording
  • Coordinate with outside organizations including, Durango 911 Dispatch, Montrose 911 Dispatch, Durango Fire Protection District (DFPD), La Plata County Search and Rescue (LPCSAR), San Juan Medical Rescue and SAR (SJMR), Flight for Life (FFL), and other regional utilized organizations.
  • Monitor all Mountain channels and communicate data to Patrol staff and other mountain departments as needed.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task successfully in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
  • Strong computer and typing skills
  • Must be able to pass a basic ski/snowboard test
  • Available to work different schedules, including weekends and holidays

Alertness, precision, ingenuity, problem-solving, analytic ability, spatial perception, persuasiveness, memory, creativity, concentration, judgment, aesthetic sense, reasoning, imagination, initiative, patience, visual, tactile and auditory discrimination, strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary abilities. Good organizational skills required.

Education and Experience

Education or Formal Training:

  • Current CPR/AED
  • Additional Basic First Aid knowledge is a plus.

Experience: One to three years prior experience preferred but not required

Working Environment/Physical Activities

95% of the work day is spent indoors at Dispatch Station maintaining intermountain and Patrol communications, answering phones, radios, emails. 5% time spent outside in the elements riding chairlift or snowmobile to/from Duty station or skiing down at end of shift.
