Ski Cooper in Leadville, CO seeks a Dispatcher for the winter season to manage radio communications and daily operational coordination with Mountain Operations.
You will monitor radio channels, relay information, and dispatch personnel and equipment as needed to respond to incidents and events.
Requirements include 18+, HS diploma or GED, ICS 100/200/700, CPR, and prior dispatching experience; proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected.
The Dispatcher is the "air traffic controller" of the mountain, responsible for receiving and transmitting radio calls, disseminating information to the proper personnel, and providing internal and external communication support to the entire operation. The Dispatcher works closely with the Mountain Operations team to coordinate all of the daily operations activities.
The Dispatcher position is based primarily inside and involves extended periods of computer screen time and keyboard use; but may also be outside at times, exposed to temperature extremes (above 85 degrees and below 20 degrees), sun and wind exposure, inclement weather (rain, snow, ice) and high altitudes (10,500+ feet).
Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift objects that may be heavy, and possess the ability to ski or snowboard at a minimum of an intermediate level.
This is a winter seasonal position with an expected season of early December 2026 through Late March to mid April 2027. Employment in subsequent seasons is not guaranteed. Be sure to speak with your supervisor if you desire to return the next season.
