Job summary

Bolton Valley is seeking a Ski or Snowboard Instructor for the upcoming season. You will instruct skiers and snowboarders of all ages, promote safety, and assist in scheduling, terrain parks, facilities and point of sale duties.

The role is seasonal, full or part-time, with a pay range of $16.50-$21 per hour. Work is outdoors in all weather with opportunities to attend clinics and improve skiing skills, while delivering friendly, professional instruction.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality.
  • Patience and love of outdoors and teaching.
  • Must pass background check to work with children.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs groups and/or individuals in a fun lesson format.
  • Teaches proper technique appropriate to the ability level.
  • Promotes safety and teaches students how to stay safe whenthey ski/ride after lessons.
  • Participates in PSIA and AASI clinics, and ongoing exams.
  • Pre-season clinics required.
  • Greet guests and direct guests to proper lesson locations.
  • Must successfully complete instructor training.
  • Construct Park features such as rails and jumps.
  • Shovel snow, fix broken items, and perform general maintenance in the clubhouse.
  • Ski/ride prior to daily opening to assess quality and safety issues.
  • Mark off and close features as safety necessitates, and report closing to terrain park manager.
  • Patrol the park, address unsafe practices with users.
  • Assist injured park guests, and call ski patrol if needed.

Job Summary: Instructs skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities how to improve their ski/ride skill, while providing a fun and effective learning environment. Along with assisting in all facets of the ski / ride department. Scheduling, booking, coordinating, terrain parks, facilities and point of sale duties.
Essential Functions:
  • Instructs groups and /or individuals in a fun lesson format
  • Teaches proper technique appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed
  • Promotes safety and gives students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave lessons to ski/ride on their own
  • Participates in clinics and free skiing to constantly improve personal skiing skills
  • Attends PSIA and AASI clinics, and takes appropriate exams, on an ongoing basis
  • Pre-season clinics required
  • Greet guests and direct guests to proper lesson locations
  • Must successfully complete instructor training
  • Construct Park features such as rails and jumps

  • Ski/ride prior to daily opening to assess quality and safety issues

NOTE: All Bolton Valley employees are required to perform alternate functions from time to time, both within and outside of their assigned department, particularly during peak periods such as holiday weekends.
Customer Service Expectations: Must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Bolton’s commitment to providing superior customer service. Treats each lesson recipient as an important individual when providing instruction.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma

  • Patience, and a love of the outdoors and teaching
  • Must pass background check necessary to work with children
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Clear verbal communication skills
  • Ability to always ski safely and confidently in all ski conditions and in varying types of terrain
  • Ability to work during peak ski times and in bad weather
Physical and Mental Demands: Must be capable of skiing/riding for prolonged periods of time (2+ hours at a time) to teach lessons. Dealing with demanding customers can be stressful.
Work Environment: Work is performed both outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind and rain, on varied snow surfaces, as well as indoors. Indoor time is spent meeting and greeting, and in the Explorers Clubhouse with children
