Job summary

City of Bellevue is seeking a Skate Park Recreation Leader (Recreation Assistant 3) to oversee programs at the Bellevue Indoor Skate Park, with emphasis on daily park operations, customer service, retail sales, skateboarding instruction, and leading staff to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.

Work hours are afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays, with mornings during school breaks, totaling ~15-24 hours weekly in school year and ~35 hours in summer.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of skateboarding and/or recreation programming experience.
• Ability to instruct youth, teens, and adults in skateboarding.
• Strong customer service, cash-handling and organizational skills.
• Ability to lead and support staff/volunteers in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of skateboarding equipment, safety practices, and retail operations.
• Experience planning or leading recreation programs, camps or events.
• Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
• Background check required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, monitor, and cover structured and drop-in programs with skateboarding instruction and retail operations.
• Provide lead direction to volunteers and temporary staff under the Skate Park Community Services Coordinator.
• Instruct skateboarding classes and activities for varied ages and skill levels.
• Manage program fees and CivicRec registrations; handle retail transactions.
• Lead weekly social media content and park communications.
• Assist with pro shop inventory, stock, and equipment maintenance.
• Enforce City of Bellevue policies and park rules; ensure safety.
• Open/close the park; handle cash; register participants and process waivers.
