Job summary

Trinity Health Michigan is seeking a part-time Nutrition Service attendant to discuss menus with patients and families daily, guiding food item choices and diet plans. You will handle patient calls, input diet selections, and work with the diet team to satisfy special requests.

May deliver meals to bedside and assist with supplies while maintaining accurate records. Requires a high school diploma or GED and solid English communication skills; ability to stand long hours and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Discusses menus with patients and families daily, offering guidance on food items and menu planning.
• Receive patient calls, input menu selections, and advise on prescribed diets.
• Collaborate with diet tech and clinical dietitian to resolve food/menu issues and meet special requests.
• Deliver meals to patients' bedside as needed.
• Assist with patient needs and resolve concerns; communicate via portable phones to ensure needs are met.
• Take food service supplies to patient rooms or clinics; prepare simple foods if required.
• Maintain records of tray delivery/pick-up times and menu selections.
• Maintain good rapport with staff and patients; address conflicts constructively.

Acts as the department guest relations representative-resolving concerns of patients. Exceptional customer service skills a must. Pay Starting at $15.59 and up

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITES:

• Discusses menus with patients and families on a daily basis offering consultation in selection of food items and guidance regarding menu planning.
• Receive patient phone calls, input menu selections and offer guidance on following prescribed diet.
• Works with Food Service Diet tech and Clinical Dietitian-Food Service to resolve food/menu problems and meet special requests of patients.
• Can deliver meals to patients’ bedside.
• Assist with all needs/respond/resolve all concerns and requests.
• Communicate with portable telephones to assure all patients’ needs are met.
• Take food service supplies (as needed) to patient rooms/outpatient clinics.
• May be asked to prepare simple foods like sandwiches/salads.
• Maintains various records such as: tray delivery/pick-up times.
• Responsible for completed/accurate menus selections for patients (as assigned).
• Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.
• Approaches conflict in a constructive manner.
• Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their solutions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Requires high school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to speak, read, and write English is required

• Ability to read, write, and perform math calculations.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time – up to 100% of the work day.
• Ability to lift / push up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 50% of work time.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with staff and other department personnel and patients.
