Great Hearts Academies is seeking a Sixth Grade Science Teacher for the Great Hearts Western Hills campus in San Antonio, TX. The role involves delivering the Great Hearts science curriculum, fostering a joyful, orderly classroom, and supporting students' intellectual and moral growth.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, meets background clearance requirements, and is open to all majors. Local travel for training may be needed; compliance with state requirements is expected.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned Sixth Grade Science using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and maintaining an orderly classroom.
• Provide academic support to students, monitor progress, and collaborate with school leadership on academic or behavioral needs.
• Uphold Great Hearts culture, dress code, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful school environment.
• Communicate clearly with families, initiate conferences as needed, and foster strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate in faculty collaboration, school events, and ongoing professional growth.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
• Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
• Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
• Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education

• Bachelor's (or higher) degree is required for a lead teaching role
• Certification is not required for general education
