Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a 7th Grade Math Teacher at the Forest Heights Upper School in San Antonio, TX. The role reports to the Headmaster and requires a life-long learner committed to a classical liberal arts education.

The position emphasizes rigorous math instruction, Socratic pedagogy, and a strong classroom culture aligned with Great Hearts’ values; travel is not a core requirement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
  • Certification is not required for general education.
  • All majors are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Education

Position Title: 7th Grade Math Teacher

Location: Great Hearts Forest Heights Upper School (5538 Research Dr, San Antonio, TX 78240)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Mathematics At Great Hearts
  • Rigorous courses in Pre-Algebra, Algebra,Euclidean Geometry, and Calculus.Students study mathematics every year K-12 as part of the core curriculum.
