Clerical Responsibilities
- Welcomes and assists patients, families and visitors; answers questions and provides information.
- Operates the phone system, relays calls, schedules appointments for multiple sites.
- Maintains health records according to established procedures and enters new patient data into the EHR.
- Processes billings and payments, verifies charges, handles insurance authorizations, and balances daily entries.
- Schedules patient appointments, sends reminders, manages enrollment packets, and handles no‑show letters.
- Operates telephone and paging system, makes collection calls as required.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assists providers in examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies and treatment under the direction of a medical provider.
- Supports patient care tasks such as taking vital signs, recording assessments, administering medications, immunizations and supplies, drawing lab specimens, and performing basic nursing tasks.
- Reconciles medications and allergies at every visit and updates the medication module.
- Maintains cleanliness and disinfection of examination areas and equipment per infection control standards.
- Provides patient health counseling and instruction, documents all interactions in the EMR, and follows up for referrals.
- Participates in huddles, identifies scheduling opportunities, and helps manage missed appointments.
General Tasks
- Ensures accurate attendance and timekeeping.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information.
- Adheres to organizational rules, attends departmental meetings, and accepts other job‑related duties as required.
Required Training & Experience
- Reliable transportation to all work sites.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) CPR certification or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Preferred: Medical Assistant Certification/Registration or Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Competency in Word and Excel.
- Proficiency in an Electronic Health Record system.
