A leading international technical engineering and construction partner operating across the UK, Ireland, North America and Mainland Europe is looking for an experienced Site Superintendent. The business delivers design and build contracts for end user clients in the Food, Pharmaceutical, Logistics, Data Centre and Advanced Manufacturing sectors.
As the primary leader on site you will take responsibility for the overall coordination, supervision and day to day management of construction activities. You will manage field operations, oversee subcontractors, enforce safety compliance and act as the company's representative at the job site, making sure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, on budget and in line with design specifications.
What you will be doing
- Directing all daily field operations including subcontractor coordination, material deliveries, equipment management and workforce scheduling.
- Leading daily site meetings and setting clear objectives for all trades and site personnel.
- Implementing and maintaining the project schedule, identifying and resolving potential delays before they bite.
- Promoting a strong safety culture and enforcing company, client and regulatory requirements, including daily safety walks, toolbox talks and inspections.
- Making sure incidents, near misses and safety violations are documented and resolved promptly.
- Monitoring workmanship and materials against company and project quality standards, and coordinating inspections and testing with consultants, clients and municipal authorities.
- Developing and maintaining short term look ahead schedules aligned to project milestones.
- Managing subcontractor performance against scope, schedule and quality requirements.
- Maintaining daily site reports, attendance logs and material delivery records, and tracking manpower, equipment usage and progress.
- Assisting with change orders, field directives and punch lists.
What we are looking for
- A minimum of seven to ten years of progressive field experience in commercial, industrial or institutional construction.
- A proven track record supervising complex construction projects from start to finish, ideally in data centres, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food or logistics.
- In depth knowledge of construction methods, scheduling and safety regulations including OSHA.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, and the judgement to make decisions under pressure.
- The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contracts.
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, CMiC, Viewpoint or Bluebeam.
- Experience with scheduling tools including Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel or relocate to project sites.
- A construction safety certification such as OSHA 30, COR or CSO is preferred.
