A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee the delivery of complex construction projects.
Operating across North America, the company delivers design-and-build projects within the data centre projects.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership and Coordination
- Direct all daily site operations, including subcontractors, labour, equipment, material deliveries and workforce scheduling.
- Lead daily coordination meetings and communicate clear priorities to trades and site personnel.
- Implement the construction programme and proactively identify potential delays.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
- Coordinate site activities with the Project Manager and wider delivery team.
Health and Safety
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project.
- Enforce company, client and regulatory health and safety requirements.
- Conduct daily safety walks, toolbox talks and site inspections.
- Ensure incidents, near misses and safety concerns are properly recorded, investigated and resolved.
Quality Assurance
- Monitor workmanship and materials against project quality standards.
- Coordinate inspections and testing with clients, consultants and relevant authorities.
- Maintain accurate as-built information and support quality-control reporting.
- Manage snagging and punch-list activities through to completion.
Programme and Productivity
- Prepare and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Monitor progress against key project milestones.
- Track productivity, manpower and equipment usage.
- Identify site challenges early and coordinate practical solutions.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to resolve programme conflicts and maintain progress.
Subcontractor and Client Management
- Manage subcontractor performance against agreed scope, programme, safety and quality requirements.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants and inspectors.
- Attend project meetings and provide accurate updates on site progress.
- Hold subcontractors accountable for delivery commitments.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily site reports, attendance records and delivery logs.
- Produce accurate reports covering manpower, equipment and construction progress.
- Support the preparation of change orders, field instructions and progress documentation.
- Ensure site records remain complete, accurate and up to date.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive site-based experience within commercial, industrial or institutional construction.
- A proven record of supervising complex construction projects from mobilisation through to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling and safety regulations.
- Previous experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and contracts.
- Strong leadership, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable making decisions and resolving challenges in a fast-paced site environment.
- Experience using construction management platforms such as Procore, CMiC, Viewpoint or Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel or relocate to project sites.
- OSHA 30, COR, CSO or an equivalent construction safety qualification would be advantageous.
